Sentry IMS

Monitoring crucial seabed assets requires constant vigilance against containment issues that can threaten subsea installations. Forcys’ Sentry IMS addresses this challenge by continuously scanning a 360° envelope to detect the earliest signs of hydrocarbon leaks or integrity breaches.

This field-proven sonar technology automatically localises leaks within a few feet inside a billion cubic feet of seawater while maintaining an exceptionally low false alarm rate. It provides field operators with reliable, high-volume protection without the need for constant manual oversight. Design it into green fields or deploy it via ROV into existing fields,

How it works

Sentry’s 360° field of view provides a detection coverage radius of up to 1200 m, detecting monophase gas leaks at flow rates as low as 0.1 litres per minute—the equivalent of approximately one barrel of oil per day. For monophase oil, it detects flows down to one litre per minute, which is equivalent to ten barrels of oil per day. Following installation, Sentry IMS is capable of monitoring over one billion cubic feet of seawater to ensure the total integrity of your subsea assets.

Where it works

Sentry offers two configurations to suit your requirements: the Sentry-W for existing infrastructure and the battery-operated Sentry-B for standalone sites. While Sentry-W integrates directly with seafloor power and communications for autonomous remote access, Sentry-B utilizes an acoustic modem to transmit data through USVs, moored buoys, or surface vessels. Both systems provide onboard processing that sends immediate, actionable alerts the moment a leak is detected.

Why Sentry IMS

Sentry is an industry-leading sonar monitoring system that provides a 360° protective envelope over a billion cubic feet of seawater from a single location. Unlike traditional leak detection methods that require costly surveys, Sentry uses autonomous onboard processing to deliver constant, immediate, high-accuracy alerts with an exceptionally low false alarm rate.

Sentry IMS Features

Automatic

Each system is fully automated, so if a hydrocarbon discharge is detected, the alarm is raised. Data on the leak position is displayed and transmitted automatically to your remote sonar monitoring stations.

Flexible

With wired and battery-powered configurations, Sentry IMS provides flexibility for how the system is used. Onshore remote access enables easy configuration and monitoring.

Wide area coverage

With 360° coverage and high volumetric monitoring capabilities from a single location, Sentry can detect the smallest of leaks at ranges in excess of 500 metres.

Active

An active sonar, Sentry IMS works by projecting a high bandwidth pulse over a short duration, into the water. It listens for echoes discarding false alarms and detecting and identifying hydrocarbon leaks.
